There have been many controversial rumours spreading online about Google introducing a new ad blocker to Google Chrome. But now, Google has officially announced details of the new ad blocker which Google is going to add to Google Chrome in early 2018.

The main income for the American multinational tech giant company, Google is through advertising. Google would also take great care to protect their own interest.

However, Google has said that the new technology will penalise non-compliment ads even if the ads are owned or served by Google itself. Google is very sure in making that the ads served by Google don’t fall out of the rules.

“It’s far too common that people encounter annoying, intrusive ads on the web like the kind that blare music unexpectedly, or force you to wait 10 seconds before you can see the contents of the page” wrote Sridhar Ramasamy, Google’s senior vice-president of ads and commerce.

“These frustrating experiences can lead some people to block all ads taking a big toll on the content creators, journalists, web developers and videographers who depend on ads to fund their content creation”

For mobile users, the coalition for better ads says pop-up ads, ads that block the content you want to see by loading first, webpages which have more than 30 percent ad density, flashing animations, ads that require a countdown to dismiss, full-screen rollover ads, large sticky ads and video ads which start playing automatically with sounds are “least preferred”.

For desktop users the “least preferred” ads include pop-up ads, video ads which start playing automatically, ads which block the content and show a countdown to access the content you want and large sticky ads.

Publishers can find out whether their ads are complaint by using the Ad Experience Report, which is designed to help the publishers to spot any issues in the ads and fix them.

Google Chrome is the world’s most popular web browser and with the company introducing an ad blocker will give the company an immense amount of power over the web. But also, blocking unwanted and irritating ads will improve user experience and will allow pages to load faster.
